Men’s Bodybuilding

 

 Lightweight: Over 143 lbs. and up to 154 lbs.

 Middleweight: Over 154lbs. and up to 176 lbs.

 Light-Heavyweight: Over 176 lbs. and up to 198 lbs.

 Heavyweight: Over 198 lbs. and up.

 Men’s’ master: 40 years of age and older

Bodybuilding Competitor Conduct When Competing:

ü      Give all requested information on contest application.

ü      All competitors must weigh-in wearing their competition posing suit.

ü      Ontario Physique Association cards must be presented at weigh-in.

ü      Music:

ü      all competitors are allowed 90 sec. Timed from the start of the music

ü      tapes or cds will be collected at the weigh-in

ü      tape must be cued to the start of music

ü      posing music should be the only music on the tape

Posing Attire and Stage Presentation
The posing attire must meet the following guidelines:

ü      posing suits must be of a solid, non-distracting color which conforms to accepted standards of taste and decency

ü      posing suits are subject to approval at the weigh-in

ü      numbers issued at the weigh-in must be worn on the left side of the suit bottom

ü      hair must be worn above the shoulders - no ribbons, bows etc. allowed

ü      no jewelry allowed on stage

ü      no gum chewing or excessive oil allowed back stage

ü      Banned Poses are the moon pose and lying flat on the stage. Performing banned poses will result in point deductions.

ü      Use of artificial coloring or oil for competition is allowed but any damage charges from the auditorium from tanning lotions or oil will be billed to any competitor caught.

ü      Competitors must at all times treat all Judges, Officials, volunteers and other athletes with respect. All judges' requests must be obeyed during the entire contest.

ü       In order to maintain a qualification a competitor's membership must run concurrently. If a competitor decides to take a year or two off without maintaining their membership they must pay the membership fees for the years they missed.

ü       All competitors will wear the posing attire, during both Prejudging and Finals, that was approved by the OPA Chief Judge at Official Weigh ins. Unauthorized use of any other posing attire is strictly prohibited without the prior approval of the OPA Chief Judge and may lead to disqualification from the event.

 

 

 

Stage Presentation
The use of props during the Prejudging or Finals presentation is strictly prohibited.

Prejudging - General
The Prejudging will take place in the morning after the Official Weigh ins. The order for prejudging each category will be discussed at the weigh ins, however may change due to lack of classes, etc.. In order to give themselves time to warm up and change into their posing attire, competitors should be in the backstage warm up area at least 30 minutes prior to the start time of the judging of their category. All competitors will be solely responsible for ensuring that they are present and prepared to compete when their category is called onstage failing which, they may be eliminated from the competition.

Procedures
When there are more than 15 athletes competing in a category, an elimination round will be held for the purpose of reducing the number to 15. The elimination round will proceed as follows: All of the athletes in the category will be brought onstage in a single line (two lines if necessary) and in numerical order. The OPA Chief Judge will then direct the competitors through the determined compulsory poses.

Prejudging:

Round One (Comparisons of Compulsory Poses)
The Prejudging (Round One) will immediately follow the elimination round and will proceed as follows:

  1. All 15 finalists or less will be called onstage as a group, in a single line and in numerical order. The judging panel should be given a moment to note the competitor numbers on their score sheet.
  2. In groups of 5 competitors at a time, and in numerical order, the competitors will be directed to perform the following four poses at centre-stage:
    1. Front relaxed followed by Front Double Biceps
    2. Side Chest
    3. Back relaxed followed by Back Double Biceps
    4. Abdominal & Thighs
  3. In Round 1, the judges will compare the competitors while they are directed to perform the following seven compulsory poses
    1. Front double biceps;
    2. Front lat spread
    3. Side chest;
    4. Back double biceps;
    5. Back lat spread
    6. Side triceps; and
    7. Abdominals and thighs.
  4. Each judge is expected to watch all of the comparisons.

Finals: Round Two (Posing Routines) - Procedures
The Finals will proceed as follows:

  1. In Round 2, the entire class of bodybuilders shall be presented onstage and perform predetermined poses, then will be ushered off the stage.
  2. The top 5 finalists will be brought onstage individually, in numerical order to perform their individual posing routine to music of his choice, up to a maximum of 60 seconds. The top 5 finalists will return to the stage for a 30-second pose-down. This round will be scored.
  3. The top 3 finalists will return to the stage, at which time the awards for placings 3rd, 2nd and 1st for the class shall take place.
  4. An overall title shall be provided. The overall award for the men bodybuilders shall take place after the final class in each is provided their awards. The winners of each class will be ushered on the stage to perform compulsory poses, which will be scored. A 30-second pose down will follow, at which time the overall champion will be chosen.
